On March 26, chef Ford Fry's restaurant group Rocket Farm Restaurants announced that it would be closing all of its properties until April 13. With that date just around the corner, the group has just announced that several of its restaurants will reopen as planned.
Little Rey, No. 246 and three Superica locations (Buckhead, Krog Street Market and Avalon) will reopen on a pickup-only basis next week, starting with Little Rey and Superica Buckhead on Monday. All of the restaurants have modified hours, and the others will open later in the week.
“Our number one priority remains the well-being and safety of our team and our communities, and we feel we can re-open responsibly with lean, efficient teams to prevent further spread of the virus and ensure we are keeping our teams healthy and employed,” said a company spokesperson.
Although no employees of the restaurant group had tested positive for COVID-19, “we felt that it was safer for all Rocket Farm employees to take the time to stay home for a full 14 days in order for us to streamline our processes and reopen without any health concerns,” the spokesperson said.
Other Rocket Farm restaurants remain closed, including the Optimist, BeetleCat, King + Duke, St. Cecilia, Marcel, JCT Kitchen and the Battery Atlanta location of Superica.
Though restaurants around metro Atlanta have been compelled to close their dining rooms, first by municipal governments and now by a statewide shelter-in-place order, the open-or-closed status of many is fluid. Quite a few have closed and reopened for takeout and delivery, some are serving as commissary kitchens for charitable initiatives and some sell occasional takeout packages while remaining closed for day-to-day service. Star Provisions, for example, is selling Easter baskets despite staying closed, while Galla's Pizza in Chamblee is selling make-your-own pizza kits along with its regular takeout and delivery options.
