Chow Mei Mei open at Emory Point

The owners Thai Spice in Norcross and Peachtree City have opened an new fast casual spot called Chow Mei Mei at Emory Point. Dubbed an Asian Diner, "where you can find good and fresh food every time you visit," the sprawling menu features Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese and Thai offerings. Look for the likes of roti canai, sushi rolls, lettuce wraps, soups and salads, rice and noodle dishes, plus specialty smoothies and a kids menu. 1540 Avenue Place, Suite B260, 404-486-8788.

Illegal Food to replace Bar Meatball

Illegal Food has signed an agreement to take over the Virginia-Highland space previously occupied by Bar Meatball, according to Zagat Atlanta. Illegal Food, which operated as a pop-up in the kitchen at Joystick Gamebar in the Old Fourth Ward, became famous for it's hefty burger menu, featuring "The Hank." Illegal and Joystick parted ways in August. Bar Meatball, which opened in March and offered a variety of mix-and-match meatballs and sauces, announced its closing last week. Illegal Food hopes to open in the next six weeks.

Arianne Fielder out at Bellwoods

Arianne Fielder is no longer the bar manager at Bellwoods Social House , which opened on Atlanta's Westside in late August, featuring classic cocktails and "boot kicker" shots. Fielder and Bellwoods' chef/owner Leif Johnson, who also owns Bite Bistro & Bar in Alpharetta, confirmed the rumors that surfaced last week, but declined to comment. Fielder has become as famous for her peripatetic ways as her cocktails. She worked at Southern Art & Bourbon Bar and Seven Lamps, managed the bar at Article 14, and more recently teamed with chef Zeb Stevenson to help introduce a new concept at Parish in Inman Park, before landing at Bellwoods.
