Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, Atlanta chef and restaurateur, Kevin Gillespie, is opening Communion Cantina, a Mexican-inspired beer garden behind his popular Decatur restaurant, Revival,  replacing the German beer garden Gillespie opened last year around this time .

The 4 p.m. May 5 opening, announced today, is "expected to be an annual change." But this year, you will find five different varieties of tacos, along with chips and salsa, cheese dip and guacamole, available for purchase from the backyard food truck.

The outdoor patio bar will sell bottled and draft beer, featuring West Coast, domestic, local and Mexican selections, and cocktails, such as margaritas, sangria and frozen drinks, including a frozen mint julep.

“We have listened to our guests and are providing lighter, snackier food,” Gillespie said in the announcement. “It’ll be simple and traditional; pay for what you buy with cash or credit card.”

Guests are invited to follow Communion Cantina on social media channels (Facebook, Instagram) for information on a chance to win free tacos for the season.
