In honor of International Women’s Day, Wild Leap Brew Co. in LaGrange recently released Too Pure To Be Pink, a limited edition double IPA “created by women to celebrate women.”

It features a special blend of hops that were selected by members of the Pink Boots Society, and it was brewed, canned and packaged with the hardworking women of Wild Leap.

Available in bars, restaurants and stores this week, a portion of the sales will go to the scholarship fund of the Pink Boots Society, a non-profit organization devoted to promoting the advancement of women in the beer industry.

And with all that goodness going on, Too Pure To Be Pink is this week’s Beer Pick.

Profile

Inspired by the musical "Grease," Too Pure To Be Pink is a tribute to the Pink Ladies "known for their pink jackets and tough attitudes," and a celebration of International Women's Day.

The double IPA features the Pink Boots blend from YCH hops, which includes Loral, Azacca, El Dorado and Idaho Gem hops.

Described as a juicy IPA “unlike any other Wild Leap release,” it pours a hazy peachy-yellow, with a tight white head. Beyond the soft mouthfeel, the flavors and aromas range from floral and herbal to pineapple and earthy. And at 8.5% alcohol, it is perhaps dangerously drinkable.

The fruity flavors of Too Pure To Be Pink would be perfect with pork dishes, including the likes of tacos al pastor, green posole, Thai pork basil, and pulled pork barbecue.
