It's St. Patrick's Day weekend, and the stout will be flowing, while people are partying all around metro Atlanta. But there are at several other big beer events on Saturday, too.

The ninth annual Suwanee American Craft Beer Fest returns on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. (noon VIP) in Town Center Park. Billed as "one of the biggest and best craft beer festivals in the Southeast," it boasts unlimited tastings of over 350 craft beers. suwaneebeerfest.com

Taco Mac at The Prado in Sandy Springs is hosting the Secret Stash Bash from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday. It's billed as a tasting of "cellared beers, barrel-aged, blended, Brett, wild, and everything in between" from some 24 breweries. secretstashbash.com.

Hosted by Modern Hops, the Juice Strikes Back runs from 1-5 p.m. at Factory Atlanta in Chamblee. The follow up to last years' Day of the Juice promises another great time "with more beer and new breweries." thejuicestrikesback.ticketleap.com/modernhops.

And in keeping with this weekend’s festivities, Creature Comforts Creature Stout, a limited release which will be available on draft at several locations, is this week’s Beer Pick.

Available in limited release on draft and in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans

Profile

Creature Comforts calls it “a simple, no-frills stout that is roasty, toasty, and delicious.” At 8-percent alcohol, it also could be called an imperial stout.

Either way, the good news is that it will on draft at several festivals this weekend, including Suwanee Beer Fest and Secret Stash Bash, and at Brickstore Pub and other beer bars in the coming weeks.

Out of the can, it pours jet black with a sturdy brown head. The roasted malt aromas are even more pronounced on the palate with a smooth hop rush through the bittersweet finish.

Pair with

Malt-forward stouts can make nice with a variety of dishes, but they are particularly good with Mexican chocolate mole sauces. Try Creature Stout with mole enchiladas, brownies or chocolate chip cookies, brown-buttery cheese like aged goudas, or even creamy Irish Cashel Blue.
