Athens’s Creature Comforts Brewing Co. recently collaborated with California’s venerable Russian River Brewing Co. to release Get Comfortable IPA for its 2019 Get Comfortable campaign — which launched on February 6 and runs through April 10.
That means Get Comfortable will be more a bit more widely available than many of Creature Comforts limited-release beers, though don’t expect to find it everywhere.
With the motto "Drink Up. Do Good. Give Back" on the can, Get Comfortable is Creature Comforts flagship community outreach program, designed to "resource the agencies in Athens that are meeting the community's most pressing needs."
Starting with the 2019 campaign, the brewery will begin partnering with another brewery each year to release a collaborative beer to generate funds for the program.
With that mission in mind, Get Comfortable is this week's Beer Pick. And if you want to get a taste, it will be on draft today, Feb. 15, from 5 p.m.-10 p.m. at Hop City at Krog Street Market.

Profile
Get Comfortable 2019 is the new Creature Comforts collaboration with Russian River Brewing Co. in Santa Rosa, Calif. The hazy, 7.2-percent alcohol IPA features an array of cool and rare hops — including Strata, Amarillo, Comet, and Pahto, which together impart complex aromas and flavors ranging from mango, passion fruit and strawberry to cannabis. Notably, it pours with voluminous snowy-white head, and finishes on a dank herbal note under a smooth bitterness.
Pair with
I sampled Get Comfortable with carnitas with peppers, onions, pickled jalapeños, and corn tortillas, which proved to be a sublime pairing. Or try it with nutty, grassy clothbound cheddar.
