As I keep repeating, more and more craft versions of lager beers are showing up on store shelves, nowadays, including some great new ones from Georgia breweries, including Creature Comforts Classic City Lager and SweetWater Guide Beer.

One of the newest, Maverick Lager from Line Creek Brewing in Peachtree City, was recently released in 12-ounce cans. And today, it’s this week’s Beer Pick.

Maverick Lager

Line Creek Brewing Co., Peachtree City

Available on draft and in 12-ounce cans

Profile

Maverick is described by Line Creek’s Irish lead brewer, Jason Carroll, as “a light, refreshing lager with a sweet honey-like aroma, a clean, crisp, slightly sweet flavor, and beautiful pale gold appearance.” And I agree.

Brewed with Hallertau Mittelfruh hops, it also displays floral aromas that recall classic German lagers. At just 4.5-percent alcohol, it’s typically easy easy-drinking, and food-friendly, with a soft mouthfeel, making it a great session beer.

Pair with

With warmer weather on the way, Maverick is a natural for cookouts, camping trips and tailgating, easily pairing with hotdogs and hamburgers, and well as fried chicken, hot wings, and grilled fish.
