SAVE AT PUBLIX
Cover Girl, Allegra, Huggies, Glad: One of the best ways to save money at Publix is to take advantage of the store's policy that allows you to combine a store coupon with a manufacturer's coupon from the AJC on the same item. Find Publix store coupons in flyers in store racks and in the newspaper. This week you can save today and Friday using coupons from the purple Publix coupon flyer that says "Over $37 in Coupon Savings" across the cover. For example, use the store coupon that gives you $2 off any Cover Girl cosmetic item with the $1 manufacturer's coupon from the May 10 RedPlum or May 3 P&G circular to save $3 off one item. Combine the $3 Allegra store coupon with the $4 manufacturer's coupon from the May 17 RedPlum to save $7 off selected sizes and varieties. Use the $1.50 Huggies diapers store coupon with the $1.50 manufacturers coupon from the May 17 SmartSource to save $3 off one package. Use the 75-cent store coupon for Glad Cling Wrap with the $1 manufacturers coupon from the May 3 SmartSource to save $1.75 off one box.
WAL-MART APP
Savings Catcher: If you shop at Wal-Mart, be sure to download the free Wal-Mart app and use its Savings Catcher feature. Wal-Mart has always had a policy to match its competitors' advertised prices. To get the price adjustment at the register, shoppers need to prove that a lower price is available that week by bringing in other flyers. Cashiers would adjust the price at the register. Most shoppers don't take advantage of that because it can be inconvenient. However, the Savings Catcher feature now gives you store credit for any price differences when you simply scan the barcode at the bottom of your Wal-Mart receipt. The app will compare the price you paid at Wal-Mart to all available advertised prices of its competitors. If it identifies a lower price elsewhere, the price difference will be added to your Savings Catcher account. I have used this feature for three receipts to date and have been credited a total of $3.38. I didn't have to spend any money on gas to drive to multiple stores. That's what I call easy.
