Six Flags Over Georgia announced Wednesday morning that it will not open for the day due to the severe weather coming through metro Atlanta.

This is the second day the Cobb County theme park has been forced to close during this normally busy week of spring break for most Georgia schools.

“It’s disappointing, but the safety of our guests and employees is more important than any money we could make today,” said Gene Petriello, a spokesman for the Austell park, Wednesday morning.

Six Flags closed Monday, which is when forecasters said 20 tornadoes touched down in Georgia.

Petriello wouldn’t say how much money the park is losing by closing, but he hopes sunny weather will bring folks out the rest of the break.

“This is the time everybody wants to party,” he said. “We expect to be pretty busy the next few days.”
