Gwinnett County Public Schools needs more substitute teachers in its ranks, and you could be qualified even if you’ve never taught before.

Substitute teachers do not have to be certified to teach. Candidates must have at least 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from a college approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, the organization that certifies teachers statewide. Candidates who do not have a valid or expired teaching certificate must complete the Gwinnett County Public Schools Substitute Teacher Training Program.

Applications can be submitted at any point in the year and orientation sessions are held weekly at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center in Suwanee.

Applications can be submitted on Gwinnett County Public Schools' jobs website. Substitute teachers can make $89 per day, and long-term substitutes can earn $99 per day.
