The Duluth City Council voted Dec. 11 to award a contract for the installation of security cameras throughout the city, commonly referred to as the Virtual Patrol Program. The cameras are designed to protect the public by alerting law enforcement personnel when stolen or uninsured cars or wanted persons enter city limits. The program is segmented into 6 phases with the first phase being the installation of 12 Automatic License Plate Recognition cameras in strategic locations.

Two proposals were evaluated with the contract going to ISO Network LLC for $99,994 plus a 10 percent contingency for a total of $109,994. The cameras will be paid for using the Police Department portion of SPLOST funds.
