By the end of the year, metro Atlantans will have a new place to create their own messy masterpiece.
The Splatter Studio, touted as the city’s first contemporary action painting experience, is opening a second location in Virginia-Highland. The new location, next to Atkins Park Restaurant & Bar, will join the existing one at Ponce City Market. The opening date has yet to be announced.
The 2,500 square foot ViHi studio will open at 792 North Highland Avenue Northeast this winter. It will offer attendees the same immersive experience where they’re given protective gear and use brushes, tools or their hands to create their own canvas or T-shirt art. The new studio features 12 painting stations, canvas-covered walls and floors, a paint bar and ample natural light.
“We’re beyond excited to open our newest location in historic Virginia-Highland,” Howard Krinsky, founder of The Splatter Studio and owner of Binders Art Supplies & Frames, said in a press release.
“My father and uncle opened Virginia-Highland’s beloved Moe’s and Joe’s in 1947, so the neighborhood holds a really special place in my heart. This is a full-circle moment, and we can’t wait to invite the community into The Splatter Studio!”
Sessions can be booked in advance online at thesplatterstudio.com. They’re also available on a first-come, first-served basis. One-hour paint sessions are $55 per person and include a disposable poncho, disposable shoe covers, gloves and the Official Splatter Studio Painting Take Home Box. Paint brushes, tools paint colors and 16x20 inch canvas are offered at each paint station.
