The seasonal holiday exhibit “Winter Wonderland” at Fernbank Museum of Natural History brings tidings of culture and joy to the city of Atlanta.
On display Nov. 20 through Jan. 6, the exhibit features cultural artifacts, indigenous art, holiday trees and other displays decorated by cultural partners. “Winter Wonderland” commemorates holiday celebrations including Christmas and Hanukkah, as well as other traditions, events and practices from around the world.
Vistors at “Winter Wonderland” will have a chance to walk among giant — up to 7 feet tall — snow globes filled with iconic winter scenes such as sledding, New Year’s Eve and gingerbread houses. Also included at the exhibit is “a wintertime tradition not often experienced in the South,” where guests will wear only socks “to slide around like you’re skating across the ‘ice.’”
Fernbank and its festive exhibit are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with evening hours available Friday, Dec. 10 during the “Fernbank After Dark: Holiday Party.” At the after-hours holiday party, guests 21-and-up can enjoy the “Winter Wonderland” exhibit alongside live music and other holiday-themed activities.
General admission tickets cost $20 for adults and $18 for children under 12, and include all museum exhibits and outdoor experiences, including 75 acres of nature adventures in WildWoods and Fernbank Forest. The holiday party tickets are $21.95 for non-members and $16.95 for members.
