Sandy Springs

Old Mill Park | Open sunup to sundown

Lacking traditional playground equipment and parent-friendly seating, Old Mill Park does offer plenty of space to explore. Situated along Vickery Creek, the park also includes a 30-foot dam and millrace, which were constructed in the early 1800s to supply power to Roswell's mills. Nestled between Crabapple Middle School and Roswell North Elementary School, Roswell Area Park offers areas for children and adults alike. The park features three different playgrounds, each designated for children according to age and ability. Parents and children will enjoy the abundant seating and covered picnic areas, walking paths, 7.4 miles of trails, tennis courts, fields, a recreation center and swimming pool. More details here.

Alpharetta

The Alpharetta Community Center and the Equestrian Center bookend the long park, which also features Waggy World Dog Park, miles of paved jogging/walking trails, two playgrounds, indoor gym facilities, a disc golf course, garden, pool, and an equestrian ring. More details here

Big Creek Greenway | Open sunup to sundown
Various entry points in Alpharetta and Roswell, following a path that runs parallel to North Point Parkway.
Starting at the south end of North Point Parkway at the Alpharetta/Roswell border, Big Creek Greenway runs north eight miles to Marconi Drive off Windward Parkway. The 12-foot-wide paved trail is mostly flat and shaded with space for children and adults to bike, jog and walk. Parking is available at several points throughout the trail. Between Haynes Bridge Road and Mansell Road, a soft mulch trail encircles a wetland awaiting exploration. More details here

Johns Creek

Sixty-six acres of play space make up this part in the northeastern area of Johns Creek near River Trail Middle School. A 3.8-acre lake, 1.1 miles of unpaved trails and a playground are highlights of the park. There are numerous picnic pavilions, including one by the water. More details here
