Carillon Historic Park's Tree of Light was illuminated for the first time this year, but unfortunately, Dayton's biggest and brightest holiday spectacle met its match against heavy winds on the morning of Monday, Dec. 14.

According to our news partner Dayton Daily News, the damage to the display was so severe that it will not be repaired in time for Christmas. The good news is that the Deeds Carillon will shine brightly once again next year.

“We want to make sure this doesn’t happen again,” Kress said in an interview with DDN.

Until then, if you didn't have a chance to stand beneath the bell tower or maybe you'd just like to appreciate it in all its glory, enjoy the 10 best Instagrams of the Carillon Tree of Light.
