Some might say the day after Halloween is better than the actual day, because that’s when all the candy goes on sale. But if you’re more into the jolliness that goes along with handing out candy, then you’ll want to know which candy to stock up on.

Online retailer CandyStore dug deep to find the most popular Halloween candy in every state, and the favorite in Georgia may surprise you.

To get the results, CandyStore looked at 12 years of sales data, from 2007 to 2018, paying close attention to the months leading up to Halloween. The retailer sells nationwide so, it broke the data down by state, and included several major candy manufacturers and distributors in its findings.

The most popular Halloween candy in Georgia was Jolly Ranchers, with nearly 143,000 pounds sold in the state last year. In second place was Swedish Fish with around 124,000 pounds, followed by Hershey Kisses, according to CandyStore’s research.

In the United States, the most popular Halloween candy was Skittles, followed by Reese’s Cups, M&M’s, Snickers and Starburst. The National Retail Federation estimates shoppers will spend $2.6 billion on Halloween candy this year, which is the same as 2018.

On average, 172 million Americans celebrate Halloween, according to CandyStore, and among those who are celebrating, around 95% will purchase candy.
