Six Flags Over Georgia has something special for its 50th year: giant, mutant spiders.
How kind of them.
The theme park franchise on Friday released details about turning the park’s Acrophobia ride into “Drop of Doom VR,” which it claims is the country's first permanent drop tower virtual reality attraction.
Slip on the virtual reality goggles and the ride will put you on a gunship under attack by said spiders.
The ride is only 20 stories high, but you’ll feel like it’s 100. And during your ascension, you’ll also feel like you’re teetering off the edge of a helicopter that is spinning around 360 degrees over skyscrapers being attacked by the villainous virtual vermin.
The park is getting another new ride, but one that will make your skin crawl less. Justice League: Battle for Metropolis will have riders put on a pair of 3-D glasses and join in on a superhero adventure.
Six Flags, 275 Riverside Parkway SW in Austell, starts its half-century celebration at its season opening March 11. It is open weekends before going daily over Memorial Day weekend, and daily for Spring Break April 1-9. Check online for specifics on hours of operation.
