Want to run “Atlanta’s most unique race?” Well...you’ll actually have to go to Norcross.

There, you’ll be able to run into a quarry and climb your way out of it. The second annual Vulcan Materials Quarry Crusher Run will be held May 6 at 8 a.m.

Participants will run down a steep 600-foot slope — average incline 10 percent —into the quarry, run around a track inside and then climb back out of the quarry. The race is 3.7 miles long (or 7.4 for the “double crusher”), but adds the challenge of finishing with a steep journey to the finish line.

The race benefits the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Fund. You can register here. The 3.7 mile run has a $40 registration fee and the 7.4 mile run has a $50 registration fee.
