At Margrate’s Café in Atlanta, a Fulton County health inspector observed a lot of uncovered food items in holding units and food just sitting out at the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive location.

Some of the vegetables had mold-like growth, and were thrown away. Raw eggs and pork sausages in a cooler were at unsafe temperatures, the inspector said.

Margrate’s Café, 2001 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Atlanta, failed the routine inspection with 47/U, falling from previous scores of 91/A and 71/C.

The inspector said the certified food safety manager at Margrate’s needed retraining and a food safety intervention with a senior inspector was needed. Key areas of risk factor control were not being addressed, according to the inspection report.

Prepared foods were not marked with preparation dates for disposal. Food containers were not labeled. Raw beef was stored over cakes, and raw chicken was stored over French fries.

There were no paper towels at employee hand sinks. And one of the sinks had a leaky pipe. Equipment needed repairs and cleaning.

Margrate’s Café will be reinspected.
