During a recent routine inspection, Donnie’s Country Cooking in Norcross had multiple critical violations including employees’ improper hand-washing and handling cooked foods with bare hands.

Also, breaded steak patties in a reach-in cooler had mold on them. They were discarded.

Donnie’s Country Cooking, 1485 Beaver Ruin Road, failed the routine inspection scoring 45/U, then pulled the health score up to 83/B on a follow-up inspection.

During the initial inspection, employees were putting on gloves and changing them without first washing their hands. One employee washed her hands in the dish-washing sink. The hand sink was blocked by a cleaning bucket.

Points were also taken off when an employee cut cooked pork with bare hands. The pork was discarded.

Multiple food items were at unsafe temperatures on a prep table and inside a cooler. Corn, potatoes, cheese, ham, green beans, lima beans and eggs were among the items out of the temperature range and were either discarded or put into a cooler.

Utensils put away as clean had dried food debris on them. And dishes, which were washed by hand, had not been sanitized.

None of the prepared foods in the walk-in cooler had date marking for disposal. Cooked vegetables, prepared meats and cheeses were either date marked or discarded.

Large, deep pans of food were stored on the counter to cool. The pans were moved to the freezer for rapid cooling.

Floors and walls throughout the facility were unclean with dirt and debris. They were washed during the inspection.

Donnie’s had previous scores of 87/B and 91/A.
