Registration for an annual fundraising walk from the Atlanta Humane Society is open.

The Walk for the Animals is a pet-friendly 5K stroll around Atlantic Station on Oct. 15. The fundraiser benefits the 30,000 animals AHS supports each year, according to a press release.

Pets who walk with owners must be leashed, up-to-date on vaccinations and in control at all times during the event. The route is about three miles, but an alternate one-mile route will also be set up.

There is no registration fee, but participants can set up a personal fundraising page. Those who register and raise $100 before Sept. 15 will receive a gift.

On event day, registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and the opening ceremony will begin at 8:45 a.m. The walk will begin at 9 a.m.

A check-in registration tent will be positioned at 17th 1/2 St. near Rosa Mexicano.
