Walkers and runners can now sign up for a downtown Atlanta race to take place this fall, one that involves the planting of daffodils.

The second annual Downtown Daffodil Dash 5k is part of the local arm of Daffodil Project, an international effort to plant flowers in memory of the estimated 1.5 million children who perished during the Holocaust. Each participant will receive a daffodil bulb to plant at home.

The Nov. 4 event will be a 3.1-mile race and a one-mile fun run through historic neighborhoods, new developments and iconic landmarks, starting and finishing in Woodruff Park.

Registration costs $30 for a timed race and $25 for an un-timed race. Both options will follow the same route.

Dogs on leashes are welcome to run or walk the route, and strollers are also allowed.

Online registration ends Nov. 2 at noon; walk-up registration is available on race day beginning at 7:30 a.m.
