Metro Atlanta police to get free barbecue from Shane’s this week

More than 22,000 free meals will be distributed to law enforcement during the “Shane’s Backs the Blue: Police Appreciation Week” campaign.

More than 22,000 free meals will be distributed to law enforcement during the “Shane’s Backs the Blue: Police Appreciation Week” campaign.

Police officers across the country will be treated to a free barbecue sandwich this week from Shane's Rib Shack.

Active law enforcement will receive a free meal certificate for a sandwich, side and drink, good from through Sept. 17. The certificates are being delivered to the police stations surrounding all Shane’s locations.

Metro Atlanta locations are in Atlanta, Alpharetta, Lawrenceville, Norcross, Peachtree City, Smyrna, Snellville and Suwannee.

Shane Thompson started the first restaurant, in McDonough, with his grandfather's secret barbecue sauce recipe in 2002. Two years later the fast-casual barbecue concept became a franchised restaurant, and it now operates 75 locations.

More than 22,000 free meals will be distributed to law enforcement during the "Shane's Backs the Blue: Police Appreciation Week" campaign, a press release said.
