The first Georgia location of a Los Angeles-based burger chain recently opened at Midtown's Shops at Metropolis.

Burgerim operates differently than many burger restaurants, allowing customers to build-your-own-burger. Instead of offering one burger meant to be a meal, it sells 3-ounce mini burgers in orders of two, three or 16.

Patrons of the fast-casual chain choose from 9 kinds of patties including Wagyu beef, lamb and salmon. They then choose a flavor style from options including classic, California, cowboy or caliente.

The space at 933 Peachtree St., beside Taco Mac, was formerly occupied by the public safety program Midtown Blue.
