For the folks in north Fulton County who have been craving New York-style pizza, a solution is here.
“Flippin’ Pizza” — a California-based pizza chain specializing in pies from the Big Apple — opened its first location in Georgia this week in Roswell.
The pizza joint has had a few quiet soft openings, but its grand opening will be on Thursday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be giveaways, music and of course — pizza and drinks. Guests can get pizza by the slice or the pie.
Flippin’ Pizza got its start in The Golden State in 2007, but has grown over the past decade and now has 25 locations across five states and Washington, D.C.
The location in Roswell is Flippin’ Pizza’s first in the Southeast.
Prices on pies at Flippin’ Pizza range from about $9 to $22. Its menu also offers gluten-free options, salads, calzones, several sides, wings and drinks.
Flippin’ Pizza says it doesn’t use oil, sugar or high-fructose corn syrup in its pizza. It says the difference between New York-style pizza and other pies is the water, so Flippin’ Pizza uses a special filter to get the right pH balance with minerals, and then tops all of its pies with fresh ingredients.
A 2009 review by The Washington Post called it "damn good pizza."
Roswell's Flippin' Pizza is located at 920 Marietta Highway, Suite C340. For more information, visit Flippin' Pizza's Facebook page and website.
