A Gwinnett County Thai restaurant failed its recent health inspection, with officials noting several improperly stored foods and a manager's lax handwashing.

Danthai Thai Restaurant, located at 851 Oak Road in Lawrenceville, received a 68/U on the Wednesday inspection.

In the report, the inspector said they "did not see the manager wash his hands during the inspection."

"When I asked him where he washed his hands he said that he washed his hands in the restroom at the lavatory ... ," the report said. "He did not rewash his hands in the handwashing sink in the kitchen area/food preparation area."

Raw fish, pork and beef were also stored over ready-to-eat sauces in the the refrigerator, the inspector wrote, and plastic grocery store bags were being reused for storing food. Employee food was mixed in with food for patrons.

Pork cooked more than two weeks prior was also still in the refrigerator, the report said.

An employee who answered the phone at Dantai on Friday afternoon said a manager was not available for comment.

Follow-up evaluations are generally completed within 10 days of failing inspections.
