These four Gwinnett happenings – from spring cleaning to swinging in treehouses – entail a variety of ways to shake up the weekend.
Want to wake your inner child? Give it a go by foraying into the mystical life of a treehouse at Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center's "Treehouses: Look who's living in the trees!" exhibit. The constructed treehouse offers a firsthand recreation of life as a treehouse inhabitant, including a forest canopy, natural artifacts, stereoscopic viewfinders and sounds. The exhibit opens at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Grayson Day's parade, road race and festival will make for a lively Saturday, too. The 36th annual event, which celebrates its namesake, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Grayson Community Park. Free activities include a trackless train, pony rides, petting zoo, inflatable bounce house and tons of vendors and games.
With a beautiful weekend ahead, one Gwinnett featival may not be enough. In comes Snellville Days as an additional festival-going treat with 200 food and craft vendors, live entertainment and a kids play area. All the festivities will be underway from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Briscoe Park. For both days, festivalgoers can enjoy exploring.
Last, but not least, for those with a "git'er done" attitude, the Spring Clean Out should be fitting. After clearing out your closet, the event could be the perfect place to make some cash from all those unwanted clothes and knick knacks. The spring cleaning blowout begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at Bogan Community Recreation Center.
