If you don’t have an animal to dress up for Halloween, you can adopt one just in time for free in Cobb County.

Any animal who has been at the county shelter longer than 30 days is free to adopt, the agency said. That's about 60 of the nearly 190 animals there, according to the shelter's database.

All animals who have been at the shelter less than 30 days are $40 to adopt.

The regular adoption price is $115, according to the county.

This deal only runs through October.

All pets have been spayed or neutered and micro-chipped, the shelter said.

Dogs come with up-to-date vaccinations, rabies testing and deworming treatment. Dogs are checked for heartworms and cats are tested for feline immunodeficiency virus and feline leukemia virus — FIV and FLeV.

The Cobb County Animal Control, 1060 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday and from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
