It’s a tale as old as time. Well, almost. The University of Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have met on the gridiron for some “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” since 1893.
The Dawgs are on top, both in the overall series and in recent years, but this year, the game returns to Yellow Jackets territory. It takes place at noon on Nov. 30 at Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium.
The game, and many other college football rivalries, is traditionally held the weekend after Thanksgiving. As far as the name, author Bill Cromartie is credited with coining "clean, old-fashioned hate."
While the schools are no longer in the same conference, they still travel back and forth annually in the name of tradition.
Separated by about 70 miles and a number of differences, they both call themselves “Georgia” and are hellbent on proving their superiority in the state.
Whether you live in metro Atlanta, are visiting for Thanksgiving or traveling just for the game — there are plenty of places to watch in the city and beyond with other fans (or rivals).
