A woman is thanking the city’s sewer operations division for recovering her engagement ring after she accidentally flushed it down the toilet.
Carissa Wolter of Jurupa Valley, California was cleaning up and left her ring and earring in a tissue on the sink.
She tossed some dirty tissues in the toilet and flushed it, then realized her jewelry had gone down the drain too.
She immediately called Jurupa Community Services for help. Workers placed a trap in the sewer line, hoping to catch the carats.
“They found it way down the street in the sewer under the ground,” said Wolter.
She and her fiance are relived and thankful for getting the ring and earrings back.
