With a little planning, you can take advantage of the best Atlanta has to offer on a Sunday. From restaurants and bars to parks and museums, there's no shortage of fun activities.
Start with a good meal. Wake up late, put on your eating pants and head out to one of the numerous Atlanta area restaurants that serve more than a basic brunch menu. Red Pepper Taqueria and Pijiu Belly are safe bets if you're looking to try something new.
Head outdoors. Stroll through Piedmont Park or walk on the BeltLine with friends. Or perhaps try something new by exploring a neighborhood other than your own on foot. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, though, as Atlanta is hillier than you may realize.
Enjoy free admission at a local museum. On the first Saturday and Sunday of every month, Bank of America cardholders get free admission to the High Museum of Art, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Tellus Science Museum and the Atlanta History Center. Each second Sunday, it's Family Free Day at the Museum of Design Atlanta (all day) and Family Fun day at the High Museum of Art (1-4 p.m.) where admission is free for everyone.
Choose a place to watch the big game. If you're not off to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to watch the Falcons or Atlanta United, you'll need to decide where you're going to watch the game. Many metro Atlanta restaurants offer game day food and drink specials. Get there early and save a table for you and your friends.
Not watching the game? Pamper yourself. While everyone else is glued to a television, why not indulge in a spa day, treating yourself to a mani/pedi or trying cryotherapy for the first time. Also, game time is the perfect time to get some shopping done at less-crowded retail locations such as Ponce City Market and Phipps Plaza.
Now it's time for dinner. Sunday is a great time to try out Sunday Supper at some of Atlanta's best restaurants, including Cakes & Ale, Serpas and JCT Kitchen & Bar, which frequently offer specials on Sundays.
Don't head home just yet. Head to one of Atlanta's rooftop bars to toast a weekend well spent. Just remember to get to bed early so you're ready to start your week on the right foot.
