A new litter of warthog piglets has arrived at Zoo Atlanta. Shirley, a 4-year-old warthog, gave birth to six piglets, but only two females and one male survived. Infant mortality is not uncommon for newborn warthogs.

The babies will bond with Shirley and their father, 4-year-old Vern, for a couple of weeks and are expected to start peeking out of the zoo’s African Plains exhibit in late April or early May.

They will likely be sent to other zoos when they are close to a year old.
