There are all kinds of things lurking inside and on your mattress like sweat, bacteria, allergens or remnants of your cosmetics.

Melissa Maker, cleaning expert and author of "Clean My Space," shares some advice in the Business Insider video below on how to really get your mattress clean.

After about an hour, use a vacuum brush attachment to vacuum the top and remove the baking soda.

Air the mattress out again and then put your clean sheets back on.
