One of the best parts of traveling is tasting the local grub. No trip to Chicago is complete without some deep-dish pizza, Garrett Popcorn and trip to Portillo’s.

The beloved Chicago chain is known for its beef dogs (Chicago style, of course) and Italian beef sandwiches.

But there may soon be a way to get a taste of the Windy City right here in Georgia — that is, if the votes are there. The Chicago-based restaurant chain is takings its traveling food truck, aka the beef bus, on the road, and foodies across the nation can help set its course.

Voting is underway on Portillo's website, and as of Friday afternoon, a Georgia city is on the leaderboard. According to the site, more than 30,000 votes have been cast to bring the beef bus to Peachtree City, which puts it at No. 5.

The Georgia city is the only Southern location currently in a top five spot — with the others in Illinois, Colorado and Missouri.

The beef bus has its route set through May 2020, so votes currently being cast will help determine where it will visit after that, according to Portillo’s.

“We cannot guarantee that the bus will stop at all locations in leaderboard, but we will take every vote into consideration,” according to the website.

If you've got a hankering for some Italian beef and crinkle-cut fries, you can cast your votes here.
