If downtown Atlanta seems more than a little bit crowded this weekend, that's because thousands of Jehovah's Witnesses are meeting at the Georgia Dome.

The convention was previously held in Gwinnett County, but moved to the Dome this year to accommodate a larger gathering. Several smaller conventions are coming together in Atlanta along with delegates from missionary assignments all over the world into one place. As many as 34,000 are expected to attend.

The theme of this year’s convention is “Keep Seeking God’s Kingdom,” which will be repeated in conventions in the U.S. and overseas in the next few months.

It’s the second of three meetings to be held in Atlanta over the next few weeks. The first was held earlier this month. This convention runs through Sunday and a third in Spanish - will be held here in August.

The convention this weekend will include foreign delegates from Croatia, Finland and Japan and the final Spanish convention will include delegates from Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.

Anthony Morris, who is a member of the governing body of Jehovah’s Witnesses headquartered in Patterson, N.Y. is the keynote speaker .

Highlights include the mass baptism. More than 260 people were baptized at the convention earlier this month.

Additionally, two Bible based theatrical plays with particular application to the day will be presented.

The convention is open to the public. For information: www.jw.org.
