Q: I’m trying to find an induction hotplate that has a single burner. The ones I found are very expensive restaurant quality types. I’m looking for something that I’ll only use a couple of times a year, so I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars. Can you find something like that for me? Thanks. — C. Renzo, Norcross

A: I found the Avanti 12-inch portable induction cooktop for $59.88 at BrandsMart USA, 5000 Motors Industrial Way, Atlanta, 770-452-9500. It features a smooth burner with six temperature settings that allow you to cook by wattage or temperature. It also has an automatic shut-off safety sensor and a three-minute timer.

Q: Last year I purchased some Mexican chicken broth in the regular broth section of either Kroger or Publix. It made the best chicken tortilla soup I have ever tasted, and now I cannot find this broth at either of the above stores. I hope you have some success in finding this. Thank you in advance for your efforts. And I enjoy your column every week. — Sherry Lessner, email

A: Under the Campbell’s umbrella, Swanson came out with a line of infused broths that include Tuscan Chicken, Chinese Hot-and-Sour, Thai Ginger and Mexican Tortilla. They’re fairly new, so that might be why you can’t easily find them. However, I found a source for you at Buford Farmers Market, 5600 Buford Highway, Doraville, 770-455-0770. A 32-ounce carton of Swanson Mexican Tortilla flavor infused broth costs $3.49. You’ll find it on American aisle 17.

Q: Many years ago, we used a drawing salve. There was nothing better for blisters. I’m starting to do a lot of yard work, and my hands sure could use some now, but I can’t find it. Is it available locally? — Robert Graham, Atlanta

A: Hyland’s PRID all-natural homeopathic drawing salve is a wax-based medication that has been around for more than a half-century. Along with healing blisters and boils, it also is supposed to help raise splinters and thorns from under the skin. PRID comes in a small metal tin and sells for $8.99 at Miller’s Rexall Drug, 87 Broad St., Atlanta, 404-523-8481.

Q: My husband is pretty vain when it comes to his hair, and he’s convinced that it’s getting thinner. I don’t notice it myself. He read about a product that he now wants me to find for him. I’ve checked local drugstores, but haven’t had any luck. I’m hoping you can help. What I’m trying to find is called Phytolium 4. I believe that it comes in small vials and you apply the product to the scalp. Thank you. — Andrea Delano, Atlanta

A: Formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates, Phyto Phytolium 4 is a scalp treatment with shiitake mushroom extract and essential oils, including sage, rosemary, lemon and cypress. One box holds a dozen vials, and each vial holds one application. It’s priced at $65 and is available at Sephora, 4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, 678-731-9950.
