Q: Recently, my husband and I spent a wonderful weekend down in St. Augustine, Fla. While there, we toured the San Sebastian Winery, and participated in its wine tasting. We were very impressed with the wines and bought a few bottles to bring home. We particularly enjoyed their cream sherry, port, Rosa, and the bubbly Blanc de Fleur but, sadly, we cannot find these anywhere in our area. I realize that I can order online but prefer to find one or more of these locally to avoid shipping charges. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Karen Paul, Acworth
A: Karen, while some Publix stores stock San Sebastian Cabernet and Chardonnay, the other varieties are more difficult to find. However, you can have the Rosa special ordered at Publix, 1727 Mars Hill Road, Acworth, 770-218-2420. Contact store manager, Jack Cowell, who’s expecting your call, and he’ll see that the wine is on hand for you.
Q: One of the women on the show Shark Tank sells a rotating makeup caddy that holds brushes, lipsticks and such. I want to buy one in Atlanta, but I’m not having any luck. Is it only available through QVC? Please locate it for me. Thank you. Nancy Williams, email
A: Lori Greiner’s spinning cosmetic organizer is available locally. The white plastic organizer is designed to store about 75 items, and spins 360 degrees. It’s available for $39.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond, 1 Buckhead Loop, Atlanta, 404-869-0457.
Q: There’s a ketchup made locally that I’m trying to find somewhere near Decatur, if possible. I’m not sure of the name, but I know that it’s a small company that also makes barbecue sauce, but I just want the ketchup. Think you can find this for me? Thanks. B. Wilson, email
A: It sounds as if you’re looking for Georgia’s gourmet tomato ketchup, an all-natural ketchup that contains no high fructose corn syrup, MSG, fillers or preservatives. Instead, it’s made with tomato paste, light brown sugar and spices. And, you’re right, The Sauce Company is a local business started by Scott Galt, a barbecue fanatic who got his start by developing a killer barbecue sauce. You’ll find 18-ounce bottles of the ketchup for $6.49 each at David’s Produce, 3561 Lavista Road, Decatur, 404-325-0709.
You can stop looking.
Nabisco introduced Newtons Fruit Thins cookies in 2011, and the skinny cookies enjoyed die-hard fans, including many in the Atlanta area. Unfortunately, Nabisco started eliminating flavors in 2013, and in 2015, the company stopped production altogether. What seems to be confusing for the readers who still hunt for their favorite low-cal cookie is the fact that they’re still featured on the company website. Ignore the website, Newtons Fruit Thins are now a thing of the past.
