If it’s October, it must be Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This month, you can buy almost anything that will both satisfy your desire for all things pink and give you the satisfaction of helping fight cancer. Charitable contributions range from $1 to 100 percent of proceeds, so choose accordingly. (For a photo gallery of a sampling of these products, go to http://on-ajc.com/1rILcDi.)

And if buying pink stuff isn’t your thing, here are a few other ways you can support breast cancer awareness and research this month:

Estee Lauder's "Let's Defeat Breast Cancer. We're Stronger Together" campaign: Through this year-round, interactive experience on BCAcampaign.com, people around the world are invited to hear and share stories of how breast cancer has touched their lives in documentary-style video tributes. You can watch the first video introducing the campaign at http://youtu.be/B0CcjvgDIcs. The Estee Lauder Cos. will donate $1 toward education and medical research, up to a maximum donation of $22,000, to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every uplifting message or photo shared on Instagram or Twitter that includes #BCAstrength.

W ThinksPINK at W Buckhead: A series of events honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month:

  • On Oct. 8, Raise the Barre with Pink Barre from 6:30-7:30 p.m. For a $5 minimum donation, which benefits Pink Heals Foundation, you get a total body workout with Pink Barre. RSVP at watlantabuckhead.com/forms/barre.

  • On Oct. 19 from 1-3 p.m., Fall Back: A Fashion Blogger Pop-Up lets you shop the closets of Southern Blog Society members. A portion of the proceeds benefits Pink Heals Foundation.
  • All month long, enjoy specialty cocktails with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Pink Heals Foundation. The hotel is at 3377 Peachtree Road N.E., Atlanta.

FFANY Shoes on Sale on QVC: Tune in to QVC from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 16 for this annual event featuring 180 donated styles available at half of the manufacturer suggested retail price. You can also shop the Shoe of the Day, a special style unveiled each weekday, from 7-9 a.m. on QVC during the month of October.

Support Our Hooters campaign: Throughout October, Hooters is raising money for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. For every 2015 Hooters Calendar sold, $1 goes directly toward breast cancer research.

Farmhouse 17: On Oct. 18, join Farmhouse 17 at a new location in downtown Norcross for a fundraiser. Local artists, merchants and others are designing and decorating bras that will hang in the store windows. Customers have 10 days to come in and vote on their favorites and also bid in an ongoing silent auction. The night of the party, everyone can continue to bid and take home their winning entries. Farmhouse 17 is at 141 S. Peachtree St., Norcross. http://farmhouse-17.com/.

Intimacy: For the entire month of October, Intimacy {bra fit stylists} is hosting a bra drive in support of Free the Girls. All donated bras will go to the organization, and for every bra that a client donates at an Intimacy store, the client will receive $10 off any bra purchase. http://myintimacy.com.

Olga / My Hope Chest: My Hope Chest is the only national nonprofit organization that helps fund reconstructive surgery for mastectomy patients who cannot afford the procedure. The Olga campaign will match consumer donations (up to $75,000) to fund reconstructive surgery. Support the cause by visiting www.olgaintimates.com/my-hope-chest and donating an amount of your choice.
