You probably make consumer decisions based on those “sell-by” and “best if used by” dates you see on products when shopping for groceries, but do you really know what they mean?

According to the USDA, the dates aren't an expiration date. And none of the dates you see on your groceries are used to determine when products become unsafe to eat.
