Last year, consumers spent a record-setting $7.9 billion on Cyber Monday — the designated online shopping day that follows Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.
Last year's spending was a 19.3% uptick from the previous year, according to Adobe Analytics data.
Immediately following last year’s strong showing, retailers and analysts began to wonder if the pace would maintain into 2019.
"Looking forward, the key issue is whether this pace can be sustained into the new year and beyond," consumer consultant Craig Johnson told CNBC.
Now, with the 2019 holiday shopping season upon us, retailers have rolled out a slew of deals to entice consumers to spend.
This year's predictions are expected to be even stronger. Adobe forecasts that Americans will dole out $9.4 billion on Cyber Monday, which would be a year over year growth of 18.9%.
Some of the most anticipated deals of the season include gaming consoles, video games and toys.
Since Thanksgiving falls later on the calendar this year, the holiday shopping season has been condensed to just 22 days between Cyber Monday and Christmas Day, which means consumers may get more creative with their shopping options.
"With fewer days to spend, Adobe Analytics predicts that BOPIS (buy online, pick up in store) will be more popular than ever before, with revenue from this delivery method doubling in the week before Christmas as shoppers rush to complete their gift lists." said John Copeland, head of marketing and customer insights at Adobe.
