Hair's the deal: You can have your mane washed, blow dried and styled in under an hour.
DreamDry, a new finishing salon specializing in blowout services in Buckhead, is a place that women can look and feel good without spending all day in a salon. "It's an elevated, sophisticated, personalized salon environment for busy women," said Robin Moraetes, a global marketing executive and cofounder of DreamDry.
There is a secret to DreamDry's expedient services. Stylists must complete a program via the DreamDry Academy. The rigorous seven-day training ensures stylists can complete the menu of services within 45 minutes and make clients feel like a top priority. "Stylists are tested and trained on technical and client-experience skills. If they don't pass, they don't go on the floor," Moraetes said.
Along with her partner, Rachel Zoe, stylist to the stars and author, the duo created DreamDry to cater to busy women like themselves. Despite the quick services, the emphasis is on healthy hair and style maintenance, so Moraetes and Zoe pick the best products for all hair types and even offer curated complementary retail items. Additionally, while in the salon, guests are treated to a bevy of beverages including coffee, tea and wine. iPods, which feature on-trend styles and upwards of 1,000 magazines, are available at each station too.
Guests of DreamDry have a myriad of options ranging from a shampoo, scalp massage and blowout service known as The Blowout to a no-wash, dry shampoo dusting and lots of styling service known as the express DreamDry DIY. There is also a combination blowout and makeup service for $35 - $90. A select number of add-on services are also available.
"We use new tools on every single person who walks through the door. You can come in with dry hair and we'll still style it under the express services," Moraetes said.
Remember the Today Show debacle when a stylist turned a Black woman's hair into a bird nest in an attempt to create summer look? DreamDry is having none of that. "Our stylists are experts in natural and all hair types," Moraetes said. "They are trained to use different brushes and hair products and techniques for hair textures."
DreamDry in Buckhead is the first location in Georgia and opens at 7 a.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. on Saturdays. Walk-ins are permissible. While there are other locations in New York City and Chicago, Moraetes sums up the perfect reason for the Atlanta salon.
"We know that women of Atlanta love their hair! They're glamourous, fashion-forward, sophisticated, busy, love to look good and don't necessarily have time to blow dry their hair every day," she said. "We're here to help them."
