Atlanta faith calendar

Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations: To honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., the Archdiocese of Atlanta's Office of Intercultural and Ethnic Diversity will host several events. At 1 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Church (48 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive S.W., Atlanta), a Eucharistic celebration will be held. The series of events will conclude with a youth celebration at 3 p.m. Jan. 17 at St. Peter Claver Regional Catholic School (2560 Tilson Road, Decatur). Information: www.archatl.com.

Walk of fame: Footprints of six new, esteemed civil rights icons, including the Rev. Dr. Raphael G. Warnock, pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, will be added to the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame during the 2016 Trumpet Awards festivities. Installation service: The Rev. Leland Albright accepted the call to lead Christ the King Lutheran Church in Peachtree Corners. Concert of hope: The Atlanta Master Chorale and the Morehouse College Glee Club, in partnership with the Emory Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, will present The Spirit Lives On: Art, Music and the Mind Concert to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease. Both groups have selected specific arrangements that evoke a spirit of hope. The celebration will begin at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. Of note: The King Center will host a special service commemorating the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 87th birthday and the 30th anniversary of the federal holiday in his honor at 10 a.m. Jan. 18 at Ebenezer Baptist Church's Horizon Sanctuary (101 Jackson St., Atlanta). The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. William Barber II, chairman of the National NAACP Legislative Political Action Committee.

Of note: The Rev. Dr. Richard Hill now serves as the interim pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church (2461 Peachtree Road N.E., Atlanta). Hill will minister to the church while the selection committee seeks a permanent pastor to replace the Rev. Dr. Ernie Hess, who was called to a church in California.
