The city along with Eddie Granderson, who shepherded the restoration has spent 10 long years restoring the world's only Noguchi-designed playground, mending the damage of time, vandals and vagrants.

Kristian Barnes brings in new mulch. The Noguchi playscape in Piedmont Park is a one-of-a-kind work of public art by the late Japanese-American artist, sculptor and furniture designer.

Noguchi was a prominent Japanese American artist and landscape architect whose artistic career spanned six decades, from the 1920s onward.

The Noguchi playscape in Piedmont Park is a one-of-a-kind work of public art.

Notable works by Noguchi include Red Cube (New York City), Black Sun (Seattle), and Sky Gate (Honolulu).

Bobby Costley with National Construction Rental removes the temporary fence. It's to be rededicated on Monday, June 1.
