Bracelets contain lead

What: EKSuccess Brands American Girl Crafts Pearly Beads & Ribbon Bracelet kits, sold at Michaels stores and other retailers nationwide from September 2009 through June 2011 for about $8.

Why: The surface coating on some of the beads contains excessive levels of lead, which is prohibited under federal law.

What to do: Consumers should immediately take the recalled kits and any finished bracelets made from the kits away from children and contact the company at 855-535-2099 for a full refund. For more information, visit eksuccessbrands.com.

Prius could lose power steering

What: 2001-03 Toyota Prius

Why: The steerage linkage may loosen, resulting in reduced electrical steering assistance when making a left turn. Loss of power steering, particularly when an operator is actively intending to steer the vehicle, may increase the risk of a crash.

What to do: Dealers will replace the nuts in the steering linkage free of charge. For more information, contact Toyota at 800-331-4331.
