Sage, an 8-month-old spayed terrier mix, is a sweet, somewhat shy, scruffy girl who came to the Atlanta Humane Society from another shelter. Sage will not be more than medium-sized when grown, so she might be a good choice for smaller spaces. Terriers can exhibit frustrating behaviors: alert barking, chasing small animals and leash reactivity (all which can be addressed through training). They are smart, trainable dogs who thrive on structure and leadership. Sage will need brushing at least every other day; her fur is wiry and will collect debris outside. She’s an affectionate little dog who will likely bond closely with her human. Based on her personality, she’d prefer a calm environment — adults only, or quiet, well-behaved children. Children in the home can help with daily care, but should not be expected to take full care of any pet without adult supervision. She will probably get along with another small dog, or she could be an only dog. Please bring all children (and any existing dogs) to meet this sweet dog. We recommend crate training, daily walks and obedience training for Sage, and she will need time to settle in and get comfortable. She can get scared and dash off, so make sure she is on a leash at all times outside. Sage will need a rabies shot; the cost is included in her adoption fee. She has been microchipped and dewormed. She will be available at 2 p.m. today at the Atlanta Humane Society Howell Mill Campus, 981 Howell Mill Road, NW. Sealed bids will be accepted starting at 10 a.m. Look at all our available pets at www.atlantahumane.org.
