Hope to beat the Christmas crunch to mail those holiday gifts and cards?

You can slow down.

The U.S. Postal Service's Atlanta District will offer extended Saturday and Sunday hours at select post offices, stations and branches from Dec. 5 through Dec. 20.

Full window service will be available both days.

Atlanta has not extended weekend hours since 2006, according to a spokesman.

On Saturday, those post offices will open at their regular time but will remain open until 4 p.m.

They will also be open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the larger cities.

Customers should check places they normally receive packages “During the holiday season, package delivery times could be as early as 6:30 a.m. and as late as 8 p.m.,” said Atlanta District Manager Scott Raymond.
