Photos: Renaissance and Baroque Images of Rome

Modern technology allowed the Michael C. Carlos Museum to use maps and etchings to recreate a 3-D tour of 17th century Rome on a computer screen. See more than 100 of the etchings then take the digital tour through Nov. 17.

The Coliseum is one of the timeless Roman buildings seen by Renaissance travelers as well as modern tourists. Visitors to the Carlos Museum can see 130 antique depictions of Rome and take a computerized tour recreated from those etchings.
