In the midst of a winter storm, Gabby Lagdon awoke on Sunday to find her pickup truck surrounded by snow.

But her truck doesn't do well in icy conditions.

"With the ground wet, the back wheels will just sit there and spin and you can't go anywhere," she told WFMY.

But Lagdon's job still expected her to show up for work. So, she decided to take a different ride into work -- a ride on her horse, Rascal.

"What better way to get to work than to ride my horse?" she said. "Get him out, get him some exercise and enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way. You can't predict the weather. So you might as well just go with it."

Community members in Burlington, North Carolina didn't think Lagdon's approach was unorthodox. One woman even called it "normal."

"People love it," Lagdon said. "I've gotten a lot of smiles, a lot of thumbs up. It kinda takes them back to the wild wild west I guess."
The only downside? Riding Rascal means no headlights, so she has to leave work before it gets dark outside.
