A blind, 170-pound dog was rescued by Brevard County Sheriff's deputies after falling into a canal.

Sgt. Jason Knepp, Deputy Lee Roth, Deputy Megan Lane and Deputy Tim Liston responded to a call at about 6 a.m. Wednesday about a dog in distress.

Roth jumped into the canal, wrapped the bullmastiff in a blanket and got it safely to shore, where the other law enforcement officers assisted in the rescue.

The dog was returned to its owners and will be OK.
