Day 1 of Westminster Dog Show in New York

The 2008 Best in Show, a beagle named Uno, helps to kick off the 133rd Westminster Kennel Club dog show.

Before the show began, Uno came back to help promote Westminster at the press conference in New York last week.

New to the WKC show is the dogue de Bordeaux breed, also known as the French mastiff. Brando, a French mastiff, is introduced at the press conference.

Elsewhere at last week's press conference, handler Stacy Carver (right) holds onto Brendan, a border collie, as he faces off with a Norwich terrier named Charlie (left).

Twiglet, A Sussex spaniel, waits for a treat at the press conference.

Cheerio, a Pomeranian, displayed good humor at the conference. (Didn't we see Cheerio in Smiling Pets?)
